Exoplanets are discovered due to spectroscopy, such as the harps, by the radial velocity light of the planet. It was used to find the mass of other planets an the orbit between the star and the planet.
51 Pegasi B was confirmed in 1992 becoming the first exoplanet. But in July of 1988 there was evidence of an extra solar planet which was later confirmed after 1992 and is now called Gamma Cephei Ab.

DeleteOn what mission was the first exoplanet discovered in 1988, and also which mission when the first exoplanet was confirmed in 1992?
ReplyDeleteThe first exoplanet discovered and confirmed exoplanet is 51 Pegasi b, that me and my partners presented in our PowerPoint.
