In the beginning of your presentation, you said that Galileo invented a thermo-scope of sorts to detect the infrared part of the spectrum. Do you have any idea how his instruments worked? I'm sure he didn't have thermograms to send electric impulses when he was around.
His instrument worked the same way that a thermometer is used today. It was used to measure the temperature of heat from the different color spectrum when the sunlight was divided by the glass prism. All of these inventions and experiments led up to infrared light.

William Hershel was exploring how much heat was contained by the different colors of visible light, so he created an experiment by using a glass prism to separate sunlight into its rainbow of colors. He then took a thermometer and placed it under each color with a separate thermometer just beyond the red light spectrum and he found that the light outside of the colors was the hottest and thus he discovered infrared light.

Throughout your presentation you show the uses for infrared cameras outside of astronomy. How does looking at infrared cameras help when relating to the star?
The infrared camera is used in the Spitzer telescope, which is called the Infrared Array Camera, that orbits in space. This telescope collects data through its infrared camera to send digital images of stars during star birth, and those covered by dust clouds, back to the NASA observatories.
The advantages of utilizing an infrared telescope are that the viewer can see through dust clouds in the sky, which cannot be completed with a visible light telescope. This allows for the viewer to see many stars that are not visible with a regular visible light telescope, and is extremely helpful during the star birth stage as all stars form from a star dust cloud.
You said that lots of data is being collected with infrared telescopes. Is the Hubble looking for anything in particular? And if so, what is the Hubble looking for using it's infrared telescope?
